On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme court ruled that homosexual marriage has all the rights, privileges, and, meaning that heterosexual marriage does. Furthermore, just this past week schools and public restrooms must now allow transgender people to enter in whatever bathroom they identity with. Needless to say, this is not the culture you thought you would be raising your child in. Nevertheless, the issues are here and are here to stay, so how can you as parents be prepared to talk to your children about these cultural issues? The first step I believe is being informed of what these issues are about and how the gospel of Christ speaks into these cultural battles in which we seem to find ourselves.
So I hope to help resource parents in the next few weeks by creating a resource center with books, articles, and videos you can access at the Youth House and on our website to keep you in the know. We want to look at issues of homosexuality, transgenderism, depression, and many other issues students go through, while also giving you some resources to help in discipleship and spiritual growth as well. I hope these resources are helpful in raising Christian students who are culturally engage in a Biblical way.
